Electrotechnology Apprenticeships - Qualification Finder (EA-QF)
Introduction
The Electrotechnology Apprenticeships - Qualification Finder (EA-QF) has been developed to assist identify and, where appropriate, 'sign-up' apprentices in the right and proper Certificate III Electrotechnology Qualification by:
- Australian Apprenticeship Centres (AACs),
- Group Training Companies (GTCs),
- Employers,
- Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), and
- Career Advisers
By answering the following series of questions that relate to the work environment of a prospective Electrotechnology employer a suitable qualification(s) will be readily identified and displayed. Matching the work environment the employer can offer in the workplace, ensures the most appropriate qualification is chosen. It reduces the likelihood of incorrect training agreements that subsequently may result in inappropriate expectations by all contractual parties; the employer, the apprentice, the AAC, the RTO and respective governments.

By clicking through each question you will be taken finally linked to a National Training Plan Initiator website, where, having identified the qualification the relevant details are advised. A subsequent Training Plan detailing the relevant competency standard units to be completed and any training program are confirmed.
Apprenticeships in the Electrotechnology Industry
Apprenticeships are work related training programs typically designed for new entrants to the industry. In some cases, Apprenticeships also apply to existing workers. They typically involve paid work and structured training. Apprenticeships offer both employers and employees:
- Relevant structured training programs, (off and on the job)
- Administrative support service via government assisted arrangements, such as:

Electrotechnology Training Package qualification design
The structure of each qualification has the flexibility to provide knowledge and skills related to the industry sector and the needs of the industry and/or enterprise.
Each qualification typically requires the completion of:
- Compulsory Core competency standard units
- A Specialisation that relate to the work environment in which the core technical requirements apply, that includes an option to chose additional Optional units that support particular conditions within the work environment, and
- A selection of Elective units supporting organisational quality assurance arrangements
